RHPL Bookmobile Is Back on the Road!

(ROCHESTER HILLS- May 10, 2018) The Rochester Hills Public Library is thrilled to announce that our “new” Community Bookmobile is on the road! Since January, the bookmobile has been off the road due to a faulty break system. But in March the RHPL bought and refurbished a used Bookmobile from Coschton, Ohio, that needed a little cosmetic work but is otherwise in great working condition, and as of May 9, 2018 the Bookmobile has resumed its journey around the Rochester Hills area!

The Community Bookmobile has been a vital part of the Library’s services since it began running in 2004, and was funded through the generosity of the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library. The goal of the bookmobile is to bring the fun of reading and learning to everyone in the community regardless of health or transportation limitations.

“Access to books should be free and available for everyone,” said Outreach Services Director Mary Davis. “Not being able to get to the library for any reason shouldn’t stop people from enjoying the services we provide. The Bookmobile serves as the gateway from the physical Library to the rest of the community.”

The Bookmobile is back on the road and sticking to its regular summer schedule, in September the Bookmobile will resume its normal route through the community. Be sure to keep an eye out for the new Bookmobile making its way around town this summer! And stop by one of its regularly scheduled stops in order to sign up for a library card, or check out one of the over 3,000 items on board!
