RHPL Website Refresh

Website Refresh Sept2020

We are pleased to announce our website has had a bit of a refresh to better serve our patrons. Here are the changes you will see starting today. The "Home" tab was removed so that the RHPL logo at the left now serves as our home button. We added a "Community Programs" tab to highlight library news media and programs. The "Use The Library" tab was renamed "Services" and includes general library and catalog services along with our policies. The "I Am" tab was renamed "Departments" and includes pages for all RHPL departments that serve patrons on a daily basis. The new "Connect" tab highlights Friends of RHPL and provides direct access to job postings, volunteer and giving opportunities, and Board of Trustees information. Additionally, the catalog has been streamlined to better serve patrons looking for items and making hold requests. Our footer navigation has also been updated to show sub-menu items, making it easier for patrons find what they need.

#RHPLInsideOutChallenge

 Selfie.DIA.Challenge.2020

Take the RHPL Inside|Out Selfie Challenge this weekend and all summer!

Take a photo of you and/or a friend copying the pose in any of the three paintings on display outside the library. Use costumes or come as you are! Post the photos to social media using #RHPLInsideOutChallenge. We'll feature your selfies on our social media pages (Facebook or Instagram). Be careful not to touch or damage the displays.

The Detroit Institute of Arts' Inside|Out art installation was completed in late June at the library. As you walk the library grounds, you can see magnificent reproductions of some of the DIA's most beloved paintings. On the wall at the west entrance is "Love Flight of a Pink Candy Heart" by Florine Stettheimer. Located in the Rotary Gateway Park is "Portrait of Postman Roulin" by Vincent van Gogh. At the entrance of the gardens on the building's east side stands "In the Garden" by Mary Cassatt. So stop by and enjoy art in the garden this summer and fall.

The library is representing Rochester and Rochester Hills among communities in three counties.

The Rochester Hills Public Library has put its 3D printers to use to create face shields for local health care workers, senior centers and community members. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Eureka Lab/Makerspace Specialist Tierney Czartoski made around 150 shields, which were donated to local nursing homes and hospitals. This once-a-decade count of every person living in the United States will decide how billions of dollars are distributed each year for libraries, schools, and other essential services. If you haven't done so already, you can respond to the census by mail, phone or online before July 31, 2020. Everyone needs to be counted because it’s critical to the future success of Michigan. Remember to count all children living at your address -- even newborns. Visit https://my2020census.gov/ to get started.
