Below is a non-exhaustive list of accessibility items and services available. If you have other accommodation needs please ask an outreach librarian. We want you to feel welcome here.

Oakland Talking Books Service

This free service administered by the Rochester Hills Public Library, loans talking books and magazines, large print books, Braille and talking book players to eligible Oakland County residents of all ages. If you are unable to read or use standard printed materials as a result of temporary or permanent visual or physical limitations, you should qualify. A talking book player and materials will be mailed at no cost as Free Matter for the Blind.  Visit the OTBS website

  • Large Print Books
  • Adaptive technology
    • PC equipped with Jaws screen reading software
    • CCTV for magnifying and reading handwritten or typed documents
    • PCs equipped with large type keyboards 
    • Variety of magnifiers available for loan
  • Audiobooks on CD and in downloadable formats

Adaptive Equipment

  • Mini Shopping carts are available for in-library use
  • Wheelchair and walkers are available at the Circulation Desk
  • Two motorized scooters similar to those found in grocery stores can be used inside the library by persons with valid library cards
  • Digital Magnifier, large print keyboards, computer equipped with screen reading software (JAWS)

Drive Up Window

Our library has a drive up window on the south side of the building and most library items can be held to pick up at the window. Place requests online, or call the library 248-650-7150 to speak with a librarian.
