Rochester Hills Public Library to Offer Story Time at The Village
(ROCHESTER HILLS- June 15, 2018) The Rochester Hills Public Library has partnered with The Village of Rochester Hills to offer a series of fun and interactive story times this summer, starting June 25 at 11 a.m.
“At the Village of Rochester Hills we strive to enhance visitors’ experience by offering a wide variety of special events and programs, like the story hour.” says The Village of Rochester’s Hills Marketing and Communication Director Shelleen McHale. “Rochester Hills Public Library is the perfect addition to our summer activities because it brings the library to our busy families.”
“We are honored to be invited to do story times at the Village of Rochester Hills because it allows us the opportunity to connect with families who might not be regular library users and talk with them about early literacy practices,” says Outreach and Bookmobile Manager Mary Davis.
Lead by a friendly RHPL librarian, the story times will include the five early literacy practices reading, writing, talking and singing, which are designed to nurture early literacy skills.
“Research has shown that reading regularly with young children strengthens relationships, and builds language literacy and social skills that last a lifetime,” says Youth Services Manager Betsy Raczkowski. “Story times offered off site gives us the opportunity to share this information with parents and lay the foundation for reading.”
Registration is not required for the event. The Story Hour’s will be held in the gazebo of The Village. The Village of Rochester Hills is located on the corner of University and Adams in Rochester Hills. For future Village Story Hour dates, please contact the Rochester Hills Public Library at 248-656-2900.
