America's Invasion At the "Underbelly" of Europe:

In 1943 the United States and Allied military forces left Africa to invade Sicily as its first step towards its major objective of invading Europe’s “underbelly” in Italy. This will presentation will follow the USA’s initial entrance to Europe via Sicily and travel through Italy and France to Germany for the next 2 years until the end World War II in May 1945. Professor Cardimen will have us follow his Uncle’s journey with the 45th Infantry Division, 180th Regiment from Africa to Sicily under General Patton all the way through the end of the war in Germany. He will also provide family stories and major battlefield events with US and Allied successes that finally helped end the war by fighting the Germans from the “underbelly” of Europe to Germany.
