RHPL Centennial
Celebrating a Century of Community
2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Rochester Hills Public Library. To help celebrate, the staff at RHPL has been hard at work planning programs, installations, and special events and commemorations to share with our community.
- 100 Days of Summer - Join RHPL this summer for fun, prizes, and of course, reading! We’ll host programs and events all summer long, including our Summer Reading Kickoff on June 8 and our Summer Sunset Finale Block Party on August 9.
- Community Art Project - Decorate your own Stretch the Giraffe and tell us about an important year in your life. We’ll add your entries to our community timeline.
- Literature-themed cocktails at the Royal Park - Adults can enjoy limited-edition beverages at the Royal Park this summer. $1 from every purchase will be donated to Rochester Hills Public Library to expand and enhance their early literacy storytime sessions.
- 100 Stories Project with RHPL Story Exchange - Record your memories and share your thoughts about the library using our Story Exchange phone in the lobby or call 248-650-0400 from home. Strong and silent type? Check out one of our Centennial Journals to add your thoughts in writing.
- Homecoming - Celebrate the last century of RHPL and look forward to the next chapter with a weekend of community events in October.
- New & limited library card designs
- A Necessity of Life by Deborah Larsen - Available for purchase in the Friends store, this comprehensive history details everything RHPL, from the origins of the library to the present day.
- RHPL Swag - Collect special 2024 RHPL swag at programs and events throughout the year
