About the Makerspace

RHPL's Makerspace is for everyone. Makerspaces are where people create DIY projects, invent, and share ideas. RHPL's Makerspace offers a variety of equipment to people of all ages. Materials and equipment are free to use during RHPL-sponsored programs. Patrons using the lab for appointments are required to incur nominal material fees. An RHPL card is not required to use the makerspace.

3D Printing

If you have an item you would like to be 3D printed, please provide us with your 3D model files, and some information about what you’re printing. Your print will be added a queue, we will calculate the total cost, and contact you to pick it up when it is done.

To pay for your print request, you can pay in-person when you pick up your item, or you can use the "pay now" button to pay online

Please Note: Makerspace materials are limited. Please call to verify colors, type, and amount available before appointment.

3D Printing Costs

  • Printed items are priced based upon finished weight. The current price is $0.03 /gram.
  • Maximum print size is 230 mm x 230 mm x 230 mm (9 inches x 9 inches x 9 inches).
  • Users will also incur a fee of 50 cents per hour beginning at four hours.

Cricut Vinyl

  • Heat transfer vinyl: $1.00 per square foot.
  • Adhesive vinyl: $1.00 per square foot.
  • Transfer Tape: $1.00 per square foot.

Sublimation Printer

  • $1.25 per sublimation print
  • If a patron wishes to bring in their own sublimation paper, we will charge $1.00 per letter size print to use our printer and ink.
  • Patrons must bring in their own sublimation blanks.
  • Patrons may use our heat press at no cost to finish sublimation projects.

Foil Quill Materials

  • $1.00 per 1 12x12 sheet or 144 square inches
  • $0.25 per 4x6 sheet of foil or 24 square inches
  • Additional sheets/colors will incur additional charges.
  • Patrons may bring in their own foil and use the quills at no additional charge

Laser Cutter

Materials must be approved by Library staff before use.

  • The makerspace has a limited supply of ⅛ inch thick birch plywood available $3 per 12” x 12” sheet
  • The makerspace will NOT cut or engrave the following materials for any reason: leather, ABS, paper, anything with a battery.

Other Equipment

Button Maker

  • $0.15 per button

Conversion

  • Patron must bring in their own flashdrive of at least 32 GB for all conversion, flashdrives are available at the front desk on the first floor for $5.
  • VHS to DVD conversion requires a blank DVD. Blank DVDs are available for $0.50 in the Makerspace, as well as the front desk.
  • Patrons may bring in blank DVDs for conversion. Must be DVD-R or DVD-RW.
